AUCKLAND’S HEALTH

DIPHTHERIA DECREASE Notifications of infectious diseases in the four districts of the Auckland Province for the month of September show a marked decrease, the total being 141 cases jls compared with 198 in August, and 219 in July. Of these 63 are in the Central Auckland area, which includes the city. Diphtheria was, as usual, the class responsible for the largest number of notifications, there being 39 against 56 for last month. Pneumonia, on the contrary, is on the decrease, 18 notifications only being received, as compared with 51 in August. Other notifications include pneumonic influenza., 6 (9): scarlet fever, 21 (12); tuberculosis, 28 (29); enteric fever. 6 (8); puerperal fever, 3 (13).
