Messages from Des Moines state that the lowa coal-mines reopened following the settlement of the wage dispute between the operators and the ; miners. About 9,000 miners returned to ; work. The settlement was on the basis of the Jacksonville agreement, and means a temporary victory for the miners.—A. and N.Z.
