MANSLAUGHTER VERDICT
TRIAL OF ITALIAN SHOT HIS COUNTRYMAN By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. The Italian, Salvator Scalisi, who shot Carmelio Garachi, a machinist, after a quarrel on September 3, was to-day found guilty of manslaughter. Owing to the provocation he had received he was bound over to appear for sentence if called upon at any time within three years.— A. and N.Z.
As a sequel to a quarrel which, had lasted for several days Carmelio Garachi, a machinist, was shot dead while he was working a circular saw in a wood-turner’s shop at St. Peter’s, four miles south of Sydney, on the morning of September :>. Some of Garachi’s fellow-employees took him to hospital, while others held a man. who had a smoking revolver in his hand, until the police arrived. This man, Salvator Scalisi, was arrested and charged with murder.
