CHAMPION COW RECORD Mr. R. Clements, of Awak.no Point, Dargaville, has just received the final returns in connection with the testing of liis champion Jersey cow, “Flundrine’s Vixen.” The returns show that the cow has produced £7 21b cf butterfat, and 12,5981 b of milk, in 365 days. Since she was purchased in 1921 lihe has given birth to five heiier calces and one bull, all of which have been prizewinners in the show ring. A cycle road race, under the auspices of the Dargaville Cycle Club, was held on Saturday afternoon, when there was a fair attendance of the public. The course was a hard one, und the race resulted in a win for M. Muriro, who also secured fastest time. J. Allen, the scratch man, was second. A handsome shield has been donated to the Dargaville Cycle Club by Messrs. J. -Mien and C. Tregidga, as a Doints prize for the season’s racing. The rainfall at Dargaville for September was as follows: Rain fell on 22 days, for a total of 4.62 inches, the heaviest fall, .76 inches, being on the 24th. The total tor the past nine months amounted to 34.97 inches, as against 39.83 inches for tbe same period last year. * • • The Wairoa Stores, Ltd., took over the control of the Kirikopimi stores on Monday from Mr. W. W. Simms, who has successfully conducted the business for some years. Mr. A Neil* son, who has been in charge of the Mangawbare branch of the Wairoa Stores organisation. has been appointed manager at Kirikopimi. The appointment is a very poouar one. The Kirikopuni branch, situated as it is close to the present railway station, is destined to become one of the company’s largest and best-paying concerns.
