PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The Papa toe toe Town Board met last night, present, Mr. A. W. Hall, chairman, Messrs. W. J- Nicholson, W. Brown, J. Franklin, P. Pinnell, and E. S. Sorensen. Mr. McGowan attended asking for a modification of the roading conditions on his subdivision, and it was decided that the engineer and works committee meet on the grounds, the committee to have power to act in the matter. The foreman was instructed to make every effort to rid the district of the stray dog nuisance, which is at present very acute. It was decided to append the sum of £3O on material for the patching of East Tamaki Road. . A communication was received from Mr. McLaughlin's solicitors refusing to agree to the proposed new road, giving access to the pumping area, and demanding adherence to the previous agreement. They agreed to supply water at lid a thousand gallons royalty, if sold to outside areas. The rental for the first 20 years to be £2O a year, with an increase of £lO every 10 years, reaching a maximum of £SO per annum. They disagreed with the suggestion that payment of royalty, if any, be deducted from the rent. It was decided that Mr. Jones be asked to visit the district and inspect the respective right of ways to the water supply, and also advise as to the cost of a tower and reticulation. Mr. Blake wrote accepting the conditions of appointment as town planner to the board. Mr. Franklin asked when the ratepayers would be given an opportunity of discussing the town planning question and it was decided to arrange a meeting later for that purpose. A petition, signed by 300 ratepayers of the town board district, asking that a poll be taken on the question of rating on the unimproved value, was received, and it was decided that a poll be taken on Tuesday, October 25. The tender of Bellamys for supply of dog collars to the board at 6£d each was accepted. A . The traffic inspector reported that nine cases are to come up at the Otahuhu Court on October 10 in connection with breaches of the board’s by-laws. Accounts totalling £267 10s 2d were passed for payment. , . Communication was received from the school committee asking the board to erect warning signs to motorists, of the existence of a school on the Great South Road, and it was left to the works committee to view the position and report.
