BETTER THAN EVER
GYMNASIUM DISPLAY Members of the Auckland Y.M.C.A. will hold their annual display In Scots Hall on Thursday evening, October 6. The display is always regarded with the greatest interest by everyone, and this year it promises to be of an even higher standard than usual.
The display is both entertaining and educational. Under Mr. Frank Rogers, the new physical director, the work is made particularly, interesting and those who have witnessed the progressive demonstration held during the gymnasium season will have the opportunity of seeing some very fine finished work. In order to demonstrate all sides of physical education the programme of gymnasium work is supported by a first-class group of local performers, such as “The Bidgroves,” who appeared recently at the Princess Theatre. and who sail on Friday on a world’s tour. Mr. Len Wilson and his partner, Mr. Hec. Miller, will present their popular turn, “Art in Athletics,” demonstrating some of the higher activities and very advanced work in physical culture. Another branch of athletics will be staged by Matt Hatton and Frank Pearcey, who will give an exhibition of scientific boxing as carried out in the Hatton Academy in the Y.M.C.A. “The Bidgroves” will also give an exhibition of wrestling. An old favourite, “The Athletic Humorist,” Mr. Vic. Hunter, will contribute the lighter side of the entertainment, and colour and charm will be lent by the appearance of a charming troupe of girl athletes who will perform in rhythmic dancing and on the apparatus.
