Mr. Harvey Turner was definitely appointed general manager, and from then on the progress of the firm was rapid. Several smaller interests were absorbed and. the. premises extended. To-day Turners and Growers have about 120 hands on their pay-roll and, with six auctioneers at busy times, their turnover must run into thousands sterlina a week. The firm has large Island interests and an extensive and sound connection throughout the Dominion. It has its own cool stores, ripening, packing, and grading rooms. Apart from his business activities Mr. Turner takes a keen interest in civic affairs, and for relaxation turns to swimming and tennis.
