TAKANINI AT PLAY
The s-hool funds of the Takaniru Public School will benefit to the extent of over £3O, ip consequence of the very successful afternoon and evening fancy dress functions held and organised by the energetic school committee. Uuring the afternoon a very sue- ! cessful fancy dress football match was 1 played, the Soccer club proving vie,- ; torious over the Rugbyites in both codes. The players in the fancy cos- ; tume and children marched from Mr. tV. Roberts’s store to the sports ground, where basketball and football were played. There were also sports and competitions held on the ground, ; everybody enjoying themselves. In the I evening the good work was continued ; by the holding of a fancy dress dance I in the Parish Hall, where the largest i assembly yet seen in Takanini con- ! gregated to make merry till the mid - ; night hour. Music for the dancing was' supplied by Ballard’s orchestra, and gave every satisfaction. i a m^ a ‘? t L su £ p f was su PPiied by the ladies of the Takanini district. Judges of the fancy dress costumes were Mr. R. Brown and Mr. W. Peck who made awards as follow Best lady's costume. Miss Sparrow', as an early Victorian ladv”- beet mens, Mr. W.
