TAUMARUNUI SAVAGES
EADIES NIGHT Rangatira W. Hughes presided over the annual ladies’ night conducted by the Taumarunui Savage Club, winch took place in the Parish Hall, and wm a most successful function, the build' ing being filled. The proceedings nun opened with the installation of the Rangatira, followed by the National Anthem, and the Savages’ Ods. Tfca following programme was then rendered:—Overture, “Lucy da Lamiasr* moor,’’ the Savage Orchestra (Messrs. A. E. Tomlinson, J. Anderson, J. Brown, F. Woodniasa, S. Matson and W. Melrose) ; songs, “The Lute Player” and “Doreen,” Rangatira Hughes; elocutionary items, “The Parson” and “Hoggets,” Savage Hiskens; songs, “Hundred Pipers” and “Will Ye No Come Back Again,” Tohunga Mcisaac; S«l«* tions, “American Belle” and “Dawn of Spring,” the Savage Orchestra; songs, “Bedouin Love Song” and “Mate o' Mine,” Savage Ashhurst; violin sete* “Cavatine” and “Violets,” Savage S. Manson; humorous stories, SaYtt* Laird; elocutionary items, “The B*ui« room” and “The Lift,” Savage C&ttP* bell; vocal quartettes, ‘ Rolling Down U> Rio” and “Oh, Peaceful Night,” Sap ages Brown, Calderwood, Ashhurst. Wl** Hughes. After the programme had been oo»* eluded, the savages handed roupd M appetising supper, and the of the evening was speiat in dancing music supplied by Mr. J. Weir’s cheatra. Rangatira Hughes addressed the assemblage briefly, and in outlining fb* aims of the club, mentioned that th« ladies’ night had been most auecessw. and he hoped the wives present allow their husbands to joir the dub.
