SUICIDE ATTEMPT FAILS GAS TUBE MADE OF PAPER IT 1 DWARD LOMAS, aged 51, tired of life on September 28, attempted to commit suicide. To-day he was charged at the Police Court with the offence. Constable J. Du Temple said that Lomas had attempted to poison himself with gas. He had made a tube by passing a long cylinder of newspaper through a knitted tie. The tube led from a gas bracket to his bed. “He Has attempted to commit suicide before/' said the constable. Sergeant Calwell said the man had been in hospital some days and was still in a weak condition. He was remanded for a week for medical observation.
