GIFT OF FRIESIAN HERD MANY IMPROVEMENTS MADE Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Saturday. At a meeting of the council of the Massey Agricultural College several questions were dealt with bringing plans for the establishment of the institution near completion. Gratification was expressed at the generous offer of members of the Friesian Association 1o present the college with pedigree heifers to be chosen by judges and .selected by the association members. Those making the donations of heifers i re: Sir Andrew Russell, Hastings; Mr. E. S. Gill, Bloomfield Farm; Major Wilson, Bulls; Mr. W. S. Kyle, Palmt rston North; and Mr. J. H. P. Liggins, Tokomaru Bay. A large number of grade Jersey heifers have been purchased and from these it is intended to select a number for inclusion in the Jersey herd to be established. In spite of the very wet weather (locking tallies show a very satisfactory lambing, percentage. The development and subdivision of the farm has been pushed ahead at a steady pace and the property has altered very much in appearance. During the last three months 71 acres of clay land have been mole-drained with very satisfactory results; another 70 acres have been broken and will be cropped this season. The results of uripod-harrowing and top-dressing are iioticeable in a very fine growth of grass.
