MARRIAGE TANGLE
MAN COMMITS BIGAMY FIRST WIFE’S BAD CHARACTER Finding himself married to a woman of ill-repute, lan Cameron left her, and, concealing the fact of his first marriage, married another girl. There were two children of the second marriage. LIE appeared before Mr. Justice Stringer in the Supreme Court this morning for sentence on the charge of bigamy. Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, for the prisoner, said he had only just received the case and would like to call evidence. He could satisfy the court that the accused’s first wife was a woman of ill-repute, and had been living with three men before her marriage. She had also lived with a man since her marriage. His second wife said he had been a good husband and she wanted to marry him. The Probation Officer said it was a fact that the prisoner’s legal wife was a woman of ill-repute. His Honour adjourned the case until to-morrow to allow counsel to find sureties.
