PROGRESSIVE WORK AT AVONDALE
ROADING AND SEWERAGE Quite a considerable amount of council work is in hand or juat completed at Avondale. THE main intersections with Great North Road, Blake and Brown Streets, have been Improved by bitumen surfacing. Sewerage in what is known as No. * area ha 3 been extended. This area now ha« about £OO houses, but building ls Proceeding so rapidly that a further extension, to deal with about 250 liou.ft.es. will be necessary. Reticulation sewers have been completed, but all will not be in operation until tb« main sewer extension is completed about the end of the month. The engineer in charge, Mr. H. E. fioldabro’, is now carrying out «mall extensions, not included in the •‘ontract, and which are being used to relieve unemployment. A considerable amount of road and -ootpath work is in hand. The eonhnuation of Station Road over the Jhdge has been entirely reformed and Ditumenised. Reconstruction of St. George’s Road, Passing Avondale Town Hall, is to be rcmrnenced next week. The money mailable will not complete the work, an< * it is intended to properly construct a portion of it in preference to Patching the whole.
