Big Fields to Start at Ellerslie
AUCKLAND SPRING RACES ACCEPTORS FOR SATURDAY The Auckland Racing Club’s Spring Meeting is to be held at Ellerslie on Saturday and Monday, October 8 and 10. The acceptances closed yesterday at 5 p.m., and an analysis of the fields .for the first day reveal the interesting fact that quality, as well as quantity is represented on the opening day. It only needs a continuance of the present fine weather to ensure the Auckland Racing Club recording one of the most successful spring fixtures in its history. The Gordon Handicap is to be converted into two races, and the stake money has been increased by £250, making the amount £650. The winner of each race takes £250, the second horse £SO, and third horse £25. The divisions, which will be treated as two separate races, with the totalisator open on each occasion appear below.
