SONG
Sometimes a sweet, vague longing * overtakes me, As though some gentle presence lingers 1 near. To dream beside me, faint, intangible, 1 Infinitely dear. Perhaps *tis just some half-forgotten fragrance— l A sweet, faint perfume from the mist « of years, Traces of lavender, an old-world ; garden, Laughter, lave and tears. The drowsy foxgloves nodding in the be rders, Mignonette and larkspurs, pink and blue. The red-tiled path, the sun-dial, pansy faces. Dream-time, flower-time—and you. —Vera Thornhill (aged 14.).
