Mrs. Clifford Warren has been the guest of Mrs. H. Valder, of Hamilton. Mrs. J. H. Frater has returned from her trip to Feilding Wellington. Miss F. Garlick and Miss Adlington are holidaying in Rotorua. * * * Miss Phyllis Latimer is visiting M.rs. G. Lusk, Wellington. Mrs. C. Heather and her daughter, Doris, have returned from a five months’ holiday in Vancouver. The Misses Beckett, from lona College, spent their holidays with their aunt, Mrs. J. C. Richardson. Miss C. Gray spent a few weeks with Mrs. Shakespear, Whangaparaoa. Miss Mary Guy is visiting relatives in Palmerston, Dannevirke and Napier. Mrs. A. E. Kidd, Mrs. Scantlebury and Mrs. Winks have been visiting Hamilton and Rotorua. * * * The Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L.C., and Mrs. Smith arrived in town this morning from Wellington. * * * Major-General R. Young and Mrs. Young were arrivals this morning by the Limited from Wellington. # * * Mrs. Ernest Boulton, of Christchurch, arrived in Auckland this morning and is the guest of Mrs* Davis. * * | Miss R. Bastings and Miss K. O Connor. Devonport, left for Wellington ! yesterday. * * * | Madame Francis Alda, the operatic ' finger, left Auckland last evening for Wellington. After visiting the South Island and Rotorua, she will probably leave New Zealand about the end of October. » * * Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Watson arrived from Wanganui last evening and are staying at Cargen. *t> * ♦ Mrs. T. E. Taylor, of Christchurch, Dominion president of the W.C.T.U., will be in Whangarei for the Auckland District Convention. * »► * Mrs. F. Moresby, of Whangarei, is the guest of Mrs. F. Parnell. Mrs. L. McLean, of Whangarei, is staying with her mother, Mrs. W. Frater, Parnell. • * • Miss R. Pagni, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, has returned to Auckland. * ■* * Miss Edith Lyttelton, the well-known novelist, G. B. Lancaster, left by the Maheno yesterday far Sydney. She will return to Auckland in about a month’s time. m m * Guests at the Commercial Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. Williamson, of Cambridge, Mrs. W. Hart, of Invercargill, and Mrs. J. Thomas, of Tauranga. * * • Mr. and Mrs. Preston Chambers and their two sons leave town to-day by motor for a tour that will include a visit to the South Island.
