ILLEGAL MIGRANTS MUST SURRENDER
WARNING TO CHINESE “ r pHIS is the last man who will x get away without a fine,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when Leong Sing appeared before him at the Police Court to-day. Accused was charged with remaining in New Zealand longer than the time allowed in his temporary immigration permit. Mr. S. W. Tong, who appeared for accused, said that he had been in New Zealand 12 months longer than his permit allowed. Arrangements had been made for him to leave Auckland for Fiji next Saturday. Mr. A. V. Penn, Collector of Customs, suggested a' fine, but Mr. Hunt said that the next Chinaman who had—to be arrested would be fined.
