CYCLISTS’ STIFF TEST HAMILTON TO AUCKLAND STARTED THIS MORNING One of the big event* of the year ir cycle road racing is being held to-day. the Qunloo road race from Hamilton to Auckland. The race started at 9 o’clock this morning and was expected to finish at Alexandra Park at 3 o'clock to-day or anortly after. (Special to THE SUN.) HAMILTON, To-day. Promptly at 9 a.m. to-day, the Mayor 8 ( .Hamilton. Mr. J. R. Fow, dispatched the limit rider in the Hamilton to Auckland cycling road race, and the remainier of the field followed at interrals, the scratch men leaving at 10 am. A good crowd assembled to witness the start, under good conditions The leading riders are expected to arrive at Alexandra Park, Auckland, at 3 o'clock or 3.30 this afternoon. The officials controlling the race ut:— Mr. P\ Vickery, organiser, Hamilton end; Mr. W. Jordan, starter; and Mr S. A. Richards, of Auckland, in charge of the official car. A squad of four ambulance men from Auckland left at Intervals, the ambulance following the scratch men. to be in readiness In the event of accidents. OLD-TIMER GOING WELL E. I’,reckon, septuagenarian competitor, started at 5 a.m., and a report rereived later stated that he hart passed lluntly at 6.50 am., going well. He has a sealed handicap. The starters were:—3 a.m., E. Brecken' 9 a.m., Reardon. Lean. Rhodes; 9.35 a.m.. Archer, bounties, Slack, Reed, Wilson. Rickman; 9.43 iLin., Rae, Stansf eld, Francis; 9.48 ;t.m.< Henderson, Urennan; 9,52 a.m.. Hill, Storey, Sutherland: 9.55 am Hajes. Bullot; 10 a.m., White, Prior, Brews ter.
