CROQUET IN AUCKLAND
SEASON REVIEWED
A SPLENDID year’s work was disclosed at the annual meeting of the Auckland Croquet Association. Finances, too, are most satisfactory. The secretary, Mrs. Keesing, reported that the association had a credit balance of £BB 10s 11d.
The secretary reported that the funds were in a satisfactory position, there being a credit balance of £BB 10s lid. The annual report stated that the North Island tournament was held in Auckland on March 1, and following days Mr. Murray, Dominion presi-
dent, competed in the different events, winning the North Island championship. Onehunga won the pennant with 2.58. This was the seventh consecutive win. Auckland scored highest points in BI (1,653)), and was now promoted to the A grade. Howick scored the highest number of points in 811. (2,186>. Four new clubs, Monte le Grande, Rawihti. Mangere East, and JHenderson. were welcomed to the association. A team of English croquet players, captained by Sir Francis Colches TerWemyss, will arrive in New Zealand early in February, and olav a North Island test match at Wanganui, and about February 10 will play a Dominion test match at Palmerston North. The following: officers were elected: President, Mrs. Schnauer; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Lowe, and Mrs. Coutts; lion, auditor, Mr. J. Thornes; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Keesing. It was decided to start inter-club matches on November 1.
