LATE MR. JOHN THOMPSON

An early settler who had had a varied experience in various parts of New Zealand, in the person of Mr. John Thompson, has died, at Manurewa. Mr. Thompson landed at Otago in 1879 and afterward proceeded to the West Coast and later to the Manawatu district, where he farmed for about 21 years. Mr. Thompson later came to Auckland, and was for a time a director of the Glen Oroua Dairy Company. Mr. Thompson leaves a widow and grown-up family, Messrs. Robert Thompson, of Palmerston North, Joseph Thompson, of the China Inland Mission, John W. Thompson, of the Waikato, and the Misses Thompson, of Manurewa.
