DALMATIAN TO FACE TRIAL
MURDER OF INFANT LENDICH DENIES GUILT (SUN’S Special Reporter.) KAITAIA, To-day. r pH E hearing of the charge of murdering a female infant and concealing the body, brought against the Dalmatian, Paul Lendich, was ccncluded yesterday at Kaitaia, before justices of the peace. Following the evidence of the mother of the child as to its birth and disap- , pearance, and evidence as to the girl’s condition by her sister and mother. Dr. Rix stated that he had examined Rosie Tewhiu on September 1, and also interviewed accused, who did not seem to know anything about the child. After the second examination witness was of the opinion that a child had been born, probably a full-time child. lie thought the girl was not quite normal mentally. She denied having seen anything of a child. Constable O'Gorman stated that he arrested accused, and brought him into the presence of the girl, who made a statement. Accused said she was telling lies, and that he had never seen a child at all. Upon being told he would be charged with murder, accused said: “All right; you charge me with the murder of the kid; I have never seen it.”
Accused was committed for trial on October 25.
