beginning of the season, but toward the end, the lower teams in the grades begin to improve, and continue to improve all through, until at the end of the season they are often at the top of their form. The likings of this match will be divided equally between the two teams interested and the Auckland League, each club receiving 33 1-3 per cent, of the net gate. Prentice and Bass, Richmond’s two reps., will be included in the team. Both were reported to have played w€ill on tour. The former will certainly strengthen the back division. Newton, on the other hand, has made a wonderful “come-back” this season, and if it can manage to win this match, : will have: put up a great performance. With Somers hooking, Newton will no doubt gei: its share of the ball from the scrums, and Richmond will ’have its work cut out to keep Dufty, Little and Co. off its goal line.
