LAST EVENING’S BUSINESS At letat niirhts of the Auckland Rugby Union Mr. H. Frost presided. over a. good attendance of members. The City Club was granted perm.iwoon. to Bend a. to Pukekohe on Saturday next. It wa« decided pr> letters of congrat-Liatlon to the Auckland representativfc# who had secured places in the trial matches and the interisland game. The committee decided to place on record Its appreciation of the past services of Mr. W. J. Meredith, who for the past 25 years: had acted on behalf of the Auckland Rugby Referee*' Association ar.d other associations. A letter was received from the Park Board of Control advising that it cou-d not allow the use of the park for tr.e Cunningham and unemployed benefit match nezt SattircLay. The board forwarded a donation of £25 to the Cunningham fund. It wa* decided to play the benefit match at the Show Grounds on Saturday next. The chairman referred to the v/o -'■ done by tlie Auckland City Council in tne way of providing playing field*, and on hi* recommendation the ; o j. lowing motion was carried: That th*s union desire* to record its appr«viitlon of tr.e efforts of the Mayor and members of the Parks Committee and council in endeavouring to supply more Plaidng, fiolds, and at the same time emphasises the pressing need for an f—i e the Epsom district.
