SPORT AT TAKANINI
CRICKET AND SOCCER DOINGS A meeting of the Takanini Cricket Club was held on Tuesday night for the purpose of enrolling new members. Mr. Roberts occupied the chair. There was a good attendance, and it was decided that the club enter two teams in the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association competitions. The new pavilion is now completed and is ready for use for the new season, which commences on November 5. A working bee has been arranged to put the outfield in order. * * * SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE TOUFINEY A very successful euchre tournament arranged by the Takanini Soccer Club was held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday night, when a good attendance of enthusiasts was present. Mrs. H. Hogan captured the ladies’ first prize, and Mr. T. Hogan won the men’s. J The booby prizes were won by Miss J. Eaddy and Mr. G. Eaddie. Light refreshments were served by a ladies’ committee, after which the floor was cleared and the gathering enjoyed a couple of dances. Airs. Collings supplied the music.
