SHEIK IN FORM
WINS AGAIN AT EPFING ROKKJER IN TROUBLE EARNS DISQUALIFICATION The New South Wales Trotting Club held a meeting on the Epping track on September 19, when P. Riddle was again successful with Sheik. The New Zealand Cup- candidate was giving away 156 yards in the second division of the Epping Handicap. of two miles, which he won by half a length in 4.302. The form being displayed by the Bonnie Chief horse on the other side is pleasing to those who still consider he has a chance of adding another New Zealand Cup to his list. SUSPICIOUS RUNNING Though the meeting was all right for Riddle, it proved the undoing, tor a while at least, of the well-known trainer and reinsman, C. Rokkjer, who
earned the displeasure of the crowd and also the stewards through the running of his charge, Headlight. Suspicion was first aroused by the manner in which the horse was buffetted about in the betting, and after being a warm favourite early, started at a good price. ROKKJER DISQUALIFIED As Headlight, who finished fourth, was returning to the weighing enclosure after the Glebe Trotters’ Handicap, the crowd gave him and his driver a hostile demonstration, hooting until the hori-e had returned to the paddock. The stewards held an inquiry into the running of Headlight. After hearing evidence they decided to disqualify C. Rokkjer and the bay gelding Headlight for six months. They decided also to call upon the owner, Mr. E. C. Luckie, who was not present, to show cause why he should not be dealt with.
