FERTILISER BILL

HELD UP FOR A TIME MORE EVIDENCE BEING TAKEN (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Fertiliser Bin, recently Introduced into the House of Representatives, considered by the Agricultural, Pastoral and Stock Committee, reported back*to the House, and read a second time, has been temporarily withdrawn from the Order Paper. The Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. O. J. Hawken, in asking leave to-day to take this action, said that certain interests had not had a fair chance of stating their case when the Bill was before the committee. He desired that a further opportunity should be given for the taking of evidence. Mr. J. G. Eliott, Oroua: I take it that the Minister will afford those who have already given evidence in favour of the Bill, an opportunity of giving further evidence if necessary? Mr. Hawken: Yes. That is so. Accordingly, the Bill was referred back to the committee.
