FRANCES ALDA

FINAL CONCERT TO-NIGHT In view of the enthusiasm which prevailed at Madame Frances Alda’s recital on Tuesday evening, a large audience may be expected to gather in the Town Hall to-night, when the famous prima donna will give her final concert here. Madame Alda’s worldwide renown as an operatic singer lends a particular interest to her performance of operatic arias, and this evening’s special “all operatic” programme should provide a rare treat for lovers of this class of music. The great, soprano will sing two excerpts from Puccini’s “La Boheme,” Mimi’s “Addio,” and “Mi Chiamano Mimi,” the popular “One Fine Day,” from the same composer’s “Madame Butterfly,” the Jewel Song from Gounod’s “Faust,” and “Sempre Cosi” from Giordano's “La Cena Della Beffe,” an opera quite unknown in these parts. Doubtless Madame Alda’s encore numbers will include a further selections of the charming modern songs, which were so much appreciated at Tuesday’s recital. Mr. Cyril Towsey will again officiate as accompanist, and will also play Two Arabesques by Debussy and Schumann’s “Les Papillons.’’ Few genuine music-lovers will care to miss this last opportunity of hearing the greatest singer the Dominion has produced—particularly in a programme so suited to her remarkable vocal and histrionic endowment. The box plans and day sales are at Lewis R. Eady and Son, Ltd.
