Efficiency is Best Economy

MASTER AND WORKER CALL FOR GOODWILL “In order to bring about a better spirit of co-operation * would urge employers to foster a greater spirit of goodwill with their employees so that increased production will result to the benefit of all,” said Mr. Albert Spencer at the annual meeting of the Auckland Employers’ Association to-day. “We all realise," he said, “that at the present time employers and manufacturers are passing through a difficult period and in consequence there is a good amount of unemployment. VALUE OF MACHINERY “Employers who have the welfare of their men at heart will be doing good service to the country if they organise their businesses on sound lines by employing the latest trouble-saving machinery. “To get full value for high wages is of greater benefit than to reduce wages. Lower wages generally result in lower production and less spending power, whereas increased production throughout New Zealand will mean cheaper goods which is of value to workers.”
