COULDN’T BRIBE CONSTABLE
PROHIBITED MAN FINED Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Pleas of guilty were entered by Robert Barter in the Magistrate's Court to-day t;o charges that, being a nrohibited person, he procured liquor from two hotels, and that he attempted to bribe a constable. The police evidence was to the effect that Barter, when caught in a hotel by a constable, offered the constable m ln*a" statement to the police Barter said he had offered the constable money because he had heard of other men having done it. Accused was fined £5 for attempted bribery, and on the two charges of procuring liquor while prohibited was lined £3 and £1 respectively.
