AMATEUR THEATRICALS
PLAY AT PAPATOETOE The Papatoetoe Literary and Debating Society celebrated Its “ladies’ night” on Tuesday, with two small comedy plays, staged by members of the society. The first on the programme was entitled "Poached Eggs and Pearls.” it had a war-time air, w*ith the usual love episode, and. was cleverly rendered by Misses M. Wilson. M. Morey. G. Leonard, L. Roseveare, and R. Wallace, as voluntary lady helpers in a wartime club; F. Catt and R. E. Smith as two Tommies; and H. Matthews as the lovesick swain. The second play, entitled “My Turn Next,” ncluded a local setting, and caused much merrment as the plot developed. The cast was as follows: Taraxium, Mr. Moore; Tim Bolus, J. B. Nicholson; Tom Trap, E. Franklin; Farmer Wheatear, S. H. Mellsop; Lydia, Miss Lulu Hunter Cicely, Miss K. Leonard; Peggy, Miss D. Death.
