POTATO MARKET EASIER
SYDNEY INQUIRY FOR OATS Press Assortation. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. If anything the drab position of the potato market recorded last week is worse. A good deal of business has been done in Septembers at £4 10s and £4 7s Gd in some cases, while .Octobers are down to £4 15s. The Wingatui this week took 2,000 odd sacks from Lyttelton and Timaru, but it is expected that the Waipiata’s consignment next week will be a heavv one. In the meantime orders from Auckland are negligible. Inquiry is coming from Sydney for various classes of stock feed—oats, chaff, and bran. Oats have gone forward in fair quantity, and more is to be taken bv the Waikouaiti on October S. A Garlons have been selling ai 3s 6d f.0.b., s.i., and B’s at Ss 3d, with little of the latter about. A few hundred tons of bran were shipped to Australia by the last boat, but an advance in the price here has stopped further business. In the meantime inquiries continue to come to hand from Sydney for chaff, but the prices quoted back have not led to any business so far.
