PETITION TO PARLIAMENT ALLOWANCE RECOMMENDED (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Tha petition of . Herbert Rudolph Stowell, of Auckland, for a compassionate allowance owing to injuries received in a shunting accident, has been referred by the Railways Committee to the Government for. favourable consideration. Mr. J. A. Lee and Mr. E. J. Howard expressed gratification at the committee’s report. Mr. J. S. Dickson, chairman of the committee, said that the case was the saddest he had jnefc.with since he had been in the House;. Certainly the Railway Department did all it could, and had paid £ 700 to Stowell, but the money had gone fn medical attention for his wife and family. He was now practically a cripple, and all he received was a pension of £6O a year.
