HURLED TO DEATH

ACCIDENT ON RELIEF WORKS Details of the fatal accident which occurred on the relief works at Pungatuna, Whangaehu Valley, were given at the inquest held last week-end. It was shown that the victim. Edward Peterson, and Arthur Bullock, were working on a cliff 250 ft above the river. Without warning a lump of papa rock came away 130 ft above him. It struck the unfortunate man and hurled him down the cliff. Bullock was also struck by pieces of the rock and knocked into a dangerous position. He was rescued by a mate named Hans Scatt and taken to the Kaetihi Hospital and is still an inmate | with an iniured. hip.
