JAZZ COMPETITION
TAKANINI BENEFIT A large number of enthusiasts gathered at the Takanini Parish Hall on Saturday night to participate in a jazzing competition, arranged in aid of a local resident who has been ordered away for his health The promoters ?hould be well satifrfhd with their efforts, as a surplus of cv r CIO will be shown from the function There were over 50 couples on the floor, and visitors were present from all tie surrounding districts and also from Aucl - land. Keen competition was displayed in tie jazzing. The ultimate winners were Miss E. Quelch, who received a slivermounted cut glass powder bowl, and Mr. J. Kelly, of Papatoetoe, who was rewarded with a medal. During the evening a particularly dainty supper was served by the ladies of thedistrict, which was much appreciated by all. Mr. E. Pa Hard’s orchestra, from Drury, supplied the music in a very efficient manner, and dancing was continued till near the midnight hour.
