ENGAGED ON NEW PLAY
Mr. Arthur H. Adams, formerly of the Sydney “Morning Herald,” “Sun,” “Bulletin,” and other Australian newspapers, who arrived from Sydney yesterday by the Maheno, will leave Auckland to-day for Russell. TT is 20 years since Mr. Adams, who A achieved literary success not only in Australia, but in England, where his drama “Mrs. Pretty and the Premier” was produced in London, was last in New Zealand. I-Ie was born at Lawrence, Otago, and educated at the Boys’ High School, Christchurch, and the Wellington College, Otago High School, and at Otago University, where he graduated B.A. Mr. Adams studied law before entering journalism. He went through the Boxer campaign as a war correspondent, and, after three years in London, returned to Sydney as editor of the Red Page of the "Bulletin.” From 1909 he edited the "Lone Hand” magazine. but eventually returned to liis old post on the “Bulletin.” A prolific writer, Mr. Adams is well known throughout the Dominion and Australia for the excellence of both prose and verse. Of recent years he has been a member of the Sydney “Sun’s” staff. He accompanied the Prince of Wales during his Australian tour in the interests of the “Sun” and a newsnaper syndicate. Just now Air. Adams is putting the finishing touches on “Gallipoli Bill,” a drama which, in all probability, Mr Bert Bailey will produce.
