Twc hundred bandits looted the village of Kan-10-chien, adjoining Wu-sih, on the Shanghai-Nanking line. They ransacked 400 shops and houses, and collected half a million dollars from thirty of their wealthiest captives. They killed several inhabitants who resisted. Civilian volunteers fought the bandits for a:t hour, but were defeated and disarmed. The bandits carried machine-guns. The Nationalist Government is despatching troops to round up the outlaws.—A. and N.Z.
