YOUTH FINED FIFTY POUNDS
PARTY’S AFTERMATH NO LICENCE FOR TWO YEARS A ROLLICKING party at Edandale last night made Thomas Whitneal Churches, aged 23. £6O poorer to-day. He pleaded guilty at the Police I’ourt to a charge ot being intoxicated while driving a motor-car in Princss Street last night. Sergeant Calwell said that accused had driven some young men and girl* in from a party at Edendale. A constable Vas attracted by the r. is? lb * passengers made in Princes Street, and when he looked into the car he f ound accused in a state bordering on drunkenness. There had. apparently, bten plenty of liquor at the party. Churches said he was a farm hand, but he owned the motor-car. “I drive into town twice a day,” he said. “You won’t be driving again.** replied the magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt. Churches was fi nod £ 50. and his driving licence was cancelled for two years.
