TIVOLI
“DOWN THE STRETCH” Robert Agnew, who plays the role of Marty Kruger, the money rider, in King Buggofs Universal-Jewel production. “Down the Stretch,” now showing at the Tivoli Theatre, is recognised as one of the most accomplished horsemen, both as a rider and as a judge of horse flesh, in the moving picture industry. Born in Kentucky, the home of the real blue-blooded equine aristocracy of the country, he moved at an early age to Texas, where he spent nearly all his waking hours on horseback. Agricw's first, real part in pictures was that of the jockey in “The Sporting Duchess.” and when King Baggot was assigned to picturise Gerald Beaumont’s last story of the turf, he immediately s< uglit out Agnew to play the leading role. Tilts part s one that he fits into naturally, and as the jockey who faced death in order to "make weight” for the b ig race of the meeting, he reaches the peak of- histrionic ability.
