MUNICIPAL CONCERT
BRILLIANT ORGAN RECITAL Another delightful programme of organ music was given in the Town Hall on Saturday evening by the city organist, Mr. Mauglian Barnett, When a selection from the masters to please all tastes was provided. It is regrettable that so fine a recital attracted a comparatively small attendance. The organist had patently given much time to the preparation of his presentations, and that the concert failed to fill the hall was no fault of Mr. Barnett. The opening number, ILollin’s brilliant “Concert Overture in C Minor,’* was given with great excellence, and received generous applause. Tschaikowsky’s “Andante Cantabile” made a strong appeal by its delicate handling. A masterly interpretation of Bach's “Toccata, Adago, and Fugue irk C” was fully appreciated. “Benediction Nuptiale,” by Saint-Saens, with its impression of wedding bells, received a cordial hearing. Such w'ere some of the masterpieces of harmony played by Mr. Barnett. Other attractive numbers were Wolstelholme’s “Serenade” Lemare’s “Hanover,” and the final “Fostlude” (Lefebure-Wely). Miss Lola Solomon displayed pleasing Quality in her solos, “ Roberto, o Tu Che Adoro” (Meyerbeer), and “Rose Softly Blooming” (Spolir). Mr. W. Gemmel’s baritone renderings of “The Wanderer” (Schubert) and “Arm, Arm. Ye Brave.” from Handel’s “Judas Maccabeus,” earned hm well-merited applause. Both artists were recalled. Miss Lillian Braithwaite and Mr. Leo Whittaker were accompanists.
Tim McCoy has left for his Wyoming ranch, where many of the scenes lor his next picture, “Wyoming,” will be made.
