CAPITOL AND EMPIRE

“KID BROTHER’S” LAST NIGHT While Harold Lloyd was filming his second Paramount release, “The Kid Brother,” which will finish its successful run at the Capitol and Empire Theatres to-night, two ministers paid a visit to the comedian’s studio. “Before I leave, Mr. Lloyd,” said one of them, after he had watched the star at work for half an hour, “I want to pay you just one tribute. That is, whenever a Harold Lloyd picture comes to town, mother and our two kiddies are the first to line up and put our money hrotugh he box office window. There is never a doubt in my mind that your pictures will contain only the cleanest and most wholesome entertainment, and while I have seen a score of your pictures my confidence has never been misplaced. It is a great work, my son, and I only hope that you will keep it up.” This statement echoes the sentiment in which Lloyd is held by picturegoers throughout the entire country. Lloyd's early training was proof enough to him that one does not have to violate the rules of decency to be funny. His works have been a shining example of that belief. “The Kid Brother” is another of. the high-class brand for which he is famous. The second feature on the programme at the Capitol Theatre to-night will be the Paramount picture, “New York,” featuring Ricardo Cortez and Lois Wilson. * At the Empire Theatre. “Tin Hats.” starring Conrad Nagel and Claire Windsor, will also be screened.

Gertrude Astor is appearing in her first Master picture, ‘Ginsberg, the Great,” in which George Jessel is the star. Miss Astor plays the part of an adventuress who becomes a member of a theatrical group in order to get information for a gang of picturesque criminals. Members of the supporting cast are Audrey Ferris, Douglas Gerrard, Lincoln Stedman and James Quinn.
