STRUCK THE BAR
S.S. PROGRESS DAMAGED From Our Own Correspondent J PUKEKOHE, To-day. While crossing Port Waikato bar on Friday, the s.s. Progress, ‘bound, for Hamilton with 300 tons of cargo, struck the bar. The s.s. Rawhiti, which was in the offing, came to the assistance of the Progress in removing cargo. The*, pumps were unable to cope with the inflow of water, and several feet is now in the vessel’s hold. It will be necessary to beach the vessel to effect temporary repairs, prior to proceeding to dock. <■
