TUTANEKAI FOR AUCKLAND.—The Government steamer Tutanekai, en route from Wellington, via East Coast lighthouses, was working the East Cape yesterday. Captain Bollons advises he expects to reach Auckland next Thursday.

AORANGI FROM VANCOUVER. —The Union Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, which left Vancouver last Wednesday, is expected to arrive at Auckland on Sunday, October 9, and is scheduled to sail from here at 11 p.m. the following day for Sydney.

TOFU A RETURNING.—Advice received by the Union Company states that the Tofua arrived at Apia, Somoa, on Thursday morning and leaves there to-day for Suva and Auckland. She is to leave Suva next Thursday and is due here the following Monday.

PACIFIC TRANSPORT COMING.— Henderson and Macfarlane have been advised that the tramp steamer Pacific Transport left Nauru Island on September 21 with 7,500 tons of phosphates for discharge at Auckland, where she is expected on October 3.

MIDDLESEX SAILING—The New Zealand Shipping Company will dispatch the Federal steamer Middlesex from Auckland for Lyttelton early to-morrow morning to commence Homeward loading. After loading at Lyttelton and Timaru, the vessel returns to Auckland about October 10 to lift large shipments of dairy produce, meat and general cargo, and will be dispatched finally from Wellington on or about the 22nd prox. for London, via Panama.

NOBEL SAILING VESSELS.—The Nobel auxiliary schooner Huia is at present loading explosives at Melbourne for Sydney and Brisbane. After discharge she will load general cargo at Rockhampton for Auckland.

The auxiliary schooner Piri left Westport for Auckland on Wednesday to complete unloading explosives from Melbourne. She is due at the beginning of next week. After discharge the vessel will load explosives at Auckland for New Plymouth, Westport, Greymouth, Wellington and Dunedin. From Dunedin she will return to Auckland with produce The auxiliary ketch Miro is en route from Tauranga to Auckland, calling at Whangamata to ..unload ..explosives.

rfc rr. -j: PORT CAROLINE SAILING.—A projected departure from Wellington tonight is the C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Caroline, bound for London, via the Cape Horn route. ROTORUA LEAVES COLON.—a. cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that its liner Rotorua leaves Colon on Monday for Auckland and Wellington, en route from London and Southamtopn. The vessel is due at Auckland on October 10. PORT MELESOURNE REPORTED.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Melbourne sailed from Montevideo on Wednesday in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand to London. She was dispatched from Wellington on August 28. TAMAROA CLEARED CURACAO. — En route from New Zealand to London the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Taniaroaf is reported to have cleared Curacao last Wednesday. She sailed from Wellington on August 27.

TREWORLAS DELAYED.—A Press Association message from Dunedin states that the Treworlas, from Lyttelton, has been delayed by fog and will not arrive at Dunedin until this morning.

PLEIODON SAILS.—The tanker Fleiodon sailed for Wellington and Timaru yesterday afternoon to complete unloading bulk oil from San Francisco for the British Oil Company.

CANADIAN CHALLENGER TO LOAD. —The local office of the Canadian Government Line has been advised that: the Canadian Challenger, which is due at Wellington to-day from Bluff, leaves on Tuesday for Auckland. She is due here next Thursday to complete her loading and it is hoped to dispatch her the next day for New York, Boston and Halifax.

STEAMER MEAD SOLD. —The singledeck steamer Mead (ex Kiltype), 606 tons gross, 256 tons net, built and engined by Smith’s Dock Company. Middlesbrough, in 1919, and owned by Messrs. Gueret, Llewellyn and Price, Ltd.. Cardiff, has been sold to British Colonial buyers for about £3,500. She carries about 730 tons deadweight on about 14ft draught, and steams about 10 knots.

COOLANA LEAVES OPUA. —The Melbourne Steamship Company’s steamer Coolana, which loaded timber at Auckland, cleared Opua for Melbourne at two o’clock yesterday afternoon.

CARGO FROM NEW YORK.—Cable advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Tremeadow sailed from New York last Saturday with cargo for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, _ Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. She is expected to arrive here on October 23.

HINEMOA IN A CYCLONE. —The New Zealand Government steamer Hinemoa, which arrived back at Auckland this morning from Norfolk Island, had a. very rough outward trip. The vessel left Auckland on September 15, and on the evening of September 16 encountered a hurricane, which forced her to heave-to for 12 hours. The wind strongly from the west, and heavy seas washed right over the hull. No damage was done, however, and the Hinemoa came through the ordeal very well. Later the weather moderated and the seas calmed and enabled the steamer to arrive at Norfolk on the 15th. The heavy swell compelled her to anchor off the island for several hours, as it was impossible to get alongside. After taking on over 700 cases of bananas, oranges and potatoes, the Hinemoa sailed on the return trip on September 21, experiencing fine weather all the way back. Passengers who returned on the Hinemoa this morning from Norfolk Island were: Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hill, Mr. and Mrs. L. Williams, Mrs. E. Adams, Mrs. C. Chapman, Mrs. E. M. Christian, Mrs. E. Orr, Misses B. Woodward, L. Goulston. L. Parkin, S. Buffet, R. Christian, G. McKee, Messrs. S. S. Myers, H. H. Goulston, E. W. Opperman, R. Maria. T. Buckley, E. A. Goulston, W. F. Hill, T. Turner, R. J. Bullock and R. Green. Spedding, Limited, the local agents, advise that they hope to dispatch the Hinemoa again on October 4 for Niue Island.
