LAND FOR COOL STORE EFFORT TO LOWER RATES Considering cool storage rates in London to be above a fair level, the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has just completed the purchase of a site for stores on the Thames. Since its .inception in 1922 the board has been responsible for a considerable reduction in the various charge:incurred in getting our meat on to the London market, but despite repeated efforts has not rnet with much success in regard to London cool storage charges. Some time ago the board took the option of a site on the Thames, adjacent to Smitlifield. As a result of the board's action in this direction, cold store owners made a small reduction which, based on the amount of mea'r shipped to London, would amount te approximately £30,000 per annum. This reduction was not considered sufficient, and the board has now tiercised its option.
