ENGLAND TO INDIA

AIRMEN SET OUT LEVINE REACHES VIENNA By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. VIENNA, Friday. The two well-known airmen, Mr. Charles Levine and Captain Hinchcliife landed here in heavy rain. They are on their way to India. A London message says the start was a thrilling one. The airplane taxied for a mile before rising and bumped badly, the nose being tilted to the earth. Captain Hinchcliffe skilfully steadied the machine, soared upwards and triumphantly departed at high speed. The airplane is carrying 490 gallons of petrol, sufficient for 50 hours. No wireless equipment is carried, the airmen fearing sparks would ignite the petrol.—A. and N.Z.
