BENEFIT CONCERT

TOWN HALL THURSDAY Much care has been taken in arranging the programme for a monster benefit concert to be given in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, October 13. The musical societies of Auckland have joined in providing artists to present a varied and entertaining programme to assist Mrs. Sutherland, who was a worthy worker in the interests of music in Auckland. She was one of the founders of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, and during the war d:id yeoman service for various relief organisations, producing two operas for the Red Cross Society. The pick of Auckland’s artists will contribute to the programme. Greta Nissen is to play the part of a Russian aristocrat in “The Tempest.” This film, starring John Barrymore, is his first modern story for several years.
