MIDNIGHT INCIDENT IN HER BOUDOIR A pretty young actress, Mile, Floriane, entertained a midnight burglar with cigarettes and conversation whilst ho was looking for her money and jewels in hei ilat in Paris. She awakened to find a light turned on in her room, and a burglar facing her with a revolver in his hand. Mile. Fleriane did not lose her presence of mind. She sat up, took her cigarette case, chose a cigarette, lighted it, and off tied one to her visitor. He took it and lighted it from the match she offered. “Now,”-she said, “hadn’t you tetter Introduce yourself?” “Make the least noise, and I’ll fire,” replied the man. • It’s you who are making the noise,” she said. “You will waken my mother, who is in the next room. Well, take that,” and she pointed to her bag on the table. It contained only a small sum of money and some imitation jewels. "Is that all you ha.ve?” he asked. “Yes,” she said, "and now I am going to ring for my mother.” In spite of the burglar’s raised revolver, she rang. The burglar made a hurried tour of the room. “Oh,” said the actress, calmly, “you won't find anything more; but do have another cigarette.” “Thank you, mademoiselle,” he said, when he had taken one more. Then he went to the windpw, let himself put, and disappeared.
