SIR ARTHUR SHIPLEY DEAD By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The death is announced of Sir Arthur Shipley.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. Sir Arthur Everett Shipley, the distinguished British zoologist, was born in 1861. He graduated at Cambridge in 1882, and three years later was appointed demonstrator of comparative anatomy. In 1894 he became lecturer on the advanced morphology of the invertebrata. In 1887 he had been elected a fellow of Christ’s College, of which he became master in 1910. He wrote on zoology and kindred sciences and was joint editor and part author of the “Cambridge Natural History.” He was vice-chancellor of the university from 1917 to 1919. He was created G.B.E. in 1920. He was an F.R.S., an F.Z.S., and an F.L.S., and held many university degrees.
