FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA. —Three and a-half inches of rain fell in the Albany district in 4S hours, causing wash-outs on the railways. Many settlers were flooded out, and much damage was done to roads. The Queensland Trades and Labour Council announces that it has abandoned i-s idea of forming a new industrial i-abour party, and that it has decided instead to bring about reforms in the listing Labour Party.—A. and N.Z.
