* Mr. Sidey Entertains His Fellow Legisla tors A HAPPY FUNCTION , (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Thursday. ACCLAIM KL throughout New Zealand as the “Captain of Summer time,” Mr. T. K. Sidey must have felt a very human Hush of pride to-night, as over a hundred glasses were lifted by the hands of members of both Houses of Parliament to drink his health, together with that of Mrs. Sidey, who has assisted him through his 18-year struggle to have Summer Time placed on the Statute Book of the Dominion. Advocates and opponents alike joined in extending good wishes to the popular member from Dunedin South, who entertained members of the Legislature in the Social Hall at the Parliamentary Buildings. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. J. G. Coat?s. proposed Mr. Sidey’s health and Sir Francis Bell, Mr. H. E. Holland, Mr. G. W. Forbes and the Hon J. Barr added tribute of friendship to their colleague in politics. The gathering was a happy one and Mr. Sidey’s reply was one of gratification at the achievement of his long and tenacious fight against prejudice and politics All were agreed that the Bill having passed, endeavours would be made to ensure its success. Instrumentalists and the House of Representatives’ choir filled the musical requirements of the assemblage, and bells had to be rung several times before members reluctantly returned to the business of ihe country.
