Public Trust Activities.—The amount paid out by the Public Trust Office during August in settlement, of new loans was £312,075, making a to-al of £1,193,644 sirce the beginning of the financial year on April 1. Additional new loans were granted to the amount of £140,350. making the total new loans on hand awaiting completion £661,988, while loans offered i less than the fall advances applied for amount to £2*l,Bls—a grand total of £‘109,803. Applications for further loans amounting t:> £279,888 are receiving consideration. New business continues to be very satisfactory, and the value of the estates accepted for administration during the month was £531,554, making ! a total of new business since April 1 jof £2,6C3,03 5.
